This week we are lucky to welcome the guitarist for one of the biggest bands of the 80s - Chris Hayes from Huey Lewis and the News! Chris and I discuss his time in the band and the stories behind many of the songs, but what I mostly wanted to know was why he chose to walk away almost 20 years ago. You realize what became more important to him was family and sobriety. He's a wonderful guy whose story is not well known. Enjoy!

This interview with Chris Hayes is excellent, when I first saw Chris play his solo in ’Some of my lies are True’, I knew I’d witnessed an incredibly talented guitar player, my air guitar could never keep up! What an interesting person Chris is and your questions were well thought out. Thank you for creating this.

Another great one Jon. I love that he is approachable and seemingly humble. You got some great stories out of him. Time to dust off some of the Huey LP's. Tons of great songs.

HLN are great and Stef Burns Is a great player but for me Chris has left a massive hole to fill. If Huey’s hearing gets better I’d personally to see Chris become involved with the band again

I’ve always thought Chris is criminally overlooked not only as a guitarist but also as a performer

Chris has been one of my biggest influences. I’ve been lucky enough to make a living out of music and it is partly down to Chris’s playing.
